10 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS YOU CAN ACTUALLY DO ALL YEAR & KEEP!

1. Eating healthier - Instead of making crazy dietary restrictions or limitations, make the resolution of eating healthier. When you put yourself on a "diet" you are more likely to cheat or indulge in foods that will make you feel guilty and make you feel bad about yourself - Instead make the resolution of eating healthier and being more conscious about the foods you are choosing to eat. When you have the choice and are cognoscente about eating healthier foods, it wont seem like the end of the world if you consume a chocolate bar on a really shitty day and that wont make you want to wolf down your entire fridge, "because I already ate a chocolate bar and broke my diet I can eat these 400 cheese puffs"

2. Being more active - Again with the limitations - I used to be really hard on myself about my New Year resolutions involving some sort of weight loss goal, yuck! All I have to say is fuck that shit. If you want your New Years resolutions to involve a goal about weight loss make it more general and more attainable than a number on the scale - Making the goal of being more active wont put as much pressure on your mental health and is a much more achievable goal, also a lot more fun! Being active can be hiking with your bestie, climbing at your favorite rock climbing gym, riding your beach cruiser to happy hour, or something as little as taking the stairs versus the escalator. Be more active ya ya ya!

3. Being more present - I've said this once and I'll probably say it again but this one is so so so important! Adding this to your resolution list is easy-peasy! With tech being everywhere we often tend to put our attention into it, I mean I love getting lost online down rabbit holes because of one funny meme or video that led to 13,000 more, but it's also important to ditch the tech or whatever distraction it might be and focus on what is really important to us - connection. Connecting with one another irl, connecting with nature, connecting with our animals, connecting with ourselves, whatever it might be! Be present and I mean really present! Start small, maybe next time you're on the phone, instead of playing Candy Crush while talking just close the app and whole-heartedly listen and converse, you might be surprised about the conversation you have! Or you might realize how terrible the conversation is and in that case hang up and get back to Candy Crush... just joking of course.

4. Try that thing you've been meaning to try - It's a new year, the perfect time to try out something you've been meaning to try! It doesn't have to mean buying a year subscription to that fab, Instagramable, everyone-who-goes-there-has-abs yoga studio or hell, it doesn't even have to be a month long subscription - it could be as simple as going to check out the yoga studio for yourself and maybe the act of walking in there on your own could be the goal you accomplished and that is something to celebrate. Y'all social anxiety is real and when we step out of our comfort zones, even if it seems as miniscule as checking out a yoga studio solo, you better be proud. So find that one thing or maybe a few things you've had on your list and go for it! I'm rooting for you!

5. Being honest with yourself - "Honesty is the best policy" a quote by someone... anyway, being honest with everyone is important but don't forget to be honest with yourself. If you have never not not not been honest with yourself then I think you're not being honest or you had really amazing people raising you who were super in tune with their emotions and gifted you that awesome trait. But 99.9% of us have not been honest with ourselves and that is something that we can change. Start small and work your way up to being honest with yourself, if you don't fully embrace who you are, than who can?

6. Be kinder to strangers - I stole this one from a very good friend because I loved it so much. Being kind to strangers is a rad resolution. Living in California I often find myself bouncing from one thing to the next and often times not stopping to connect with others, when maybe that is exactly what they need or maybe even what I need and didn't even know I needed?? I challenge you to take the few extra minutes in the morning and ask your barista how their day is going, like actually ask them.

*Story time!* I was in Utah once and while waiting for my iced coffee, the barista engaged in conversation with me an asked about my plans for the day - at first I was annoyed that he was trying to talk to me, how dare this stranger try to have a conversation with me? Appalling right? Well I finally gave in after giving him a few one word answers and actually engaged in the conversation and we ended up having a great chat that left me feeling so happy & with great recommendations for local hot spots! Who knew that slowing down my morning routine and not always trying to grab n go would be so rewarding? Not me - now I make a point to always check in with my barista and will be working on being kinder to all daa strangers.

7. Fall in love and then fall in love 100,000,000 more times! - This one speaks for itself but essentially fall in love with as many things as you can this year! Fall in love with watching the sunset, fall in love with your friendships, fall in love with your job, fall in love with yourself, fall in love with the avocado toast you've finally mastered the recipe to! And obviously if you can fall in love with another human that's pretty rad too.
*If that doesn't work go peep my blog post "10 Reasons you don't need no man"

8. Be kinder to our Earth - As someone who used to drink exclusively out of plastic disposable water bottles this is something I am always striving to get better at and it's SO easy to accomplish! Being kind to our Earth is a goal that should be met alllll year & year after mfing year.
Here are 10 ways to be kinder to our Earth

*Mini Post* Blog post inception woo!
1. When walking outside stay on designated trails as to not disrupt the new growth/ wildlife ya feel?
2. Reuse, Reduce, & Recycle - Upcycle that old weird thing to a decorative piece of obscure art, be conscious of how much of a carbon footprint you are making, & donate your old stuff versus throwing it away or recycle it if you must get rid of it.
3. Reusable water bottles, ta-fucking-da - Plus you'll be more hydrated yaaaasssssss
4. Buy potted plants/ flowers instead of fresh cut flowers, not only will they last way longer but its wayyy better for the environment.
5. Reusable ziplock bags! They are a thing and come in hella cute prints - oh, and most are dishwasher safe yaa boi!
6. Fix those leaky ass faucets ASAP - no wasting water friends it's 2019 get your shit together
7. Meal prep - weird thing to put on this list? Nope, instead of having 4,000 take-out boxes you'll be using reusable containers which is actually great! Plus it'll help in like 12 more areas.
8. Being outside more will help you have a great appreciation for our Earth and that will typically make you want to be kinder to it so gtf outside and soak in all of it's glory!
9. Pick up after yourself - no one likes a slob, including mother nature! If you litter you suck, end of story.
10. Buy things in bulk versus small plastic packaging - this little switch will help reduce your trash by a shit ton so try it out next time you go shopping!

9. Read a book & then read anotha one - When it comes to reading, this is something that can easily be put to the sidelines in our busy lives! Go ahead and make some room to read some this year! 365 days to read one book seems feasible right? I recently went to Mexico and brought along two books to read -guess how many books I read on my lounge chair by the beach sippin' on my margrita? Zero. That's right, I read not one single page and I'M A TEACHER guys. I did end up power reading a book out of self guilt after binge watching Bird Box on the plane because, I am a teacher and if I expected my students to read on break I better do the same and read at least one damn book. So if you find the spark to read a book, do it! And now let's take some advice from DJ Khalid and *read* anotha one!

10. Buy yourself a new outfit or 12 - Girl! Or Guy! You deserve to feel good about yourself going into a new calendar year - go out and buy yourself a new outfit to update a certain area in your wardrobe. Are you transitioning into a new career and need an updated business/ interview outfit? Go get yourself one, splurge on a getting yourself some fitted clothes that make you feel damn good. If you're feeling like you've been wearing the same ugly af but the coziest, sweats that you can live in forever that are cheeto/ red wine stained, maybe it's time to update your chillin' sweats to something more visually appealing and make you feel less of a hot mess express and more like a hot not so mess of a cozy clean human! Try some cute comfy joggers - trendy, cute, and snuggly. Or maybe you really want to focus on your being more active goal and helping you feel more confident about that is getting yourself a new pair of obscenely overpriced workout pants and a fun sports bra - if that cute new bra makes you feel like you can do 34 more squats, buy yourself that damn bra and rock that workout. You go!

Happy New Year Friends! I hope this year brings you all that you dream for <3

5 Ways to do Cinco De Mayo

** I understand this is a blog of 10 but in honor of Cinco De Mayo (The fifth of May for you Gringos) I will be doing a list of 5.** Numero Uno-   Traditions - Let's be respectful. Cinco De Mayo is an annual celebration to commemorate the Battle of Puebla where the Mexican Army took victory over the French Empire. (au revoir  putas) In Mexico, the traditional celebration is very militant and in the US it's a fucking fiesta - but, it is important to be respectful of traditions so therefore, be respectful.  Numero Dos- Tacos - What is a fiesta without bomb ass Mexican food? Not a very good one. (jajaja) I live in California so I am #blessed with authentic Mexican food and can literally find tacos at any hour of the day. If you don't live in California maybe stick to some generic tortilla chips and some Pace Salsa and skip the tacos because it would be a shame to try to recreate tacos if you don't know wtf you're doing. Make sure you eat at least 14 tacos on

Also, if you're in the mood for a night cap (booze yay!) and a soak, most rooms come stocked with yummy liquor and soaking tubs - hell ya. Tahoe is hands down on the top 10 Northern California destinations & yes, Tahoe is considered Northern California based off of a snazzy Google search I did- ha. If you haven't been to Tahoe, you're in for a

10 things to be thankful for this fall

1. Community - Be thankful for your community. Having lived in a small town and a city where wild fires destroyed homes, structures, lives, and left people's lives changed forever, community is something to be thankful for this fall. I witnessed so many strangers come together to grieve, gather, and give to the people impacted by the fires - whether it be donating food, supplies, time, or a place to stay, it was/ is incredible to see people rise up to support one another in a time of such need. In general, communities are very powerful and will be there for you whenever needed, not only during fires - many thanks. 2. Support - Be thankful for support - Support can mean a multitude of things - from someone supporting your ideas, dreams, decisions, to supporting you physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually, or just flat out being your cheerleader. It's important to have support and its equally as important to be supportive. Support is something to be thankful for th
