10 things to be thankful for this fall

1. Community - Be thankful for your community. Having lived in a small town and a city where wild fires destroyed homes, structures, lives, and left people's lives changed forever, community is something to be thankful for this fall. I witnessed so many strangers come together to grieve, gather, and give to the people impacted by the fires - whether it be donating food, supplies, time, or a place to stay, it was/ is incredible to see people rise up to support one another in a time of such need. In general, communities are very powerful and will be there for you whenever needed, not only during fires - many thanks.

2. Support - Be thankful for support - Support can mean a multitude of things - from someone supporting your ideas, dreams, decisions, to supporting you physically, financially, emotionally, spiritually, or just flat out being your cheerleader. It's important to have support and its equally as important to be supportive. Support is something to be thankful for this fall - so let me ask you this? Who are you supported by? Who are you supporting?

3. Social Media - Be thankful for social media - Social media can be a double edged sword but it is also something to be thankful for this fall. Social media can serve all sorts of purposes but let's focus on some of the positives it presents us, like: staying connected to family/friends who we don't get to interact with on a daily basis, finding out about current events in seconds versus waiting hours and sometimes watching them live, sharing life events in the form of words, pictures, memes, and gifs, staying connected to people who you still care about but might not connect with if not for social media, and being able to sift through your contacts and cut out the ones you don't politically see eye-to-eye with (just kidding on that last one) Social media has been very transformative to how we live and that is something that can be celebrated.

4. Politics - Be thankful for politics - Number 4 is a weird one to be thankful for but hear me out. I am not an overly political person myself but recent politics have brought out a heightened sense of where our country is at the moment and with that comes a sense of righteousness - that is something to be thankful for. Believing in something so passionately and standing up for what you believe in is a beautiful thing and is something I am thankful for. Being able to have a political stance, whether it be for something or against something being able to participate and make a change is pretty damn cool. Now I'm done with the talking politics so calm down and keep reading.

5. Music - Be thankful for music - Is there a song for any mood/ feeling/ activity? I would have to say, absolutely! Music is something to be thankful for this fall as it is something that compliments just about anything happening in your life which is pretty amazing and wonderful. Turn on some sick beats, maybe that's Christmas music or not, and just enjoy the music, let it consume you and take you to where you need to go.

6. Forgiveness - Be thankful for forgiveness - Forgiveness seems like an obvious thing to be thankful for but it might not be that simple - forgiveness is like the middle child of emotions, it is always there but can often go left unacknowledged or not given the time it deserves - so this fall be thankful for forgiveness. Really take the time to acknowledge the forgiveness in your life and harness that gratitude you might have for being forgiven or maybe take the time you need to find forgiveness in your heart. It really shouldn't be, "forgive and forget" it should be "forgive and flourish" or something like that. *Taking suggestions now*

7. Animals - Be thankful for animals - I mean do I really need to explain this one? Have you ever seen those pet videos of animals getting reunited with their owners? I mean come on *Crying emoji times ten* Animals are a gift and can add so much quality to our lives - love your animal or any animal a little harder this fall and be thankful for them. All da pets!

8. Family - Be thankful for family - The pinnacle of existence stems from family. Family is an aspect of life that is often taken for granted. We assume family will always be there for us and often use that as an excuse to not fully appreciate family for what it is - family is something to be thankful for - all family makeups look different, so they might not be biological, but who you consider family in your heart. Be thankful for their honesty, because heavens knows if someone who wasn't your family told you the blunt honest truth you would ditch that person in a heartbeat but because you're family, you're stuck with them and should embrace that they can be 100 with you because they are your family, and what are families for? Be thankful for them and give them an extra squeeze this fall.

9. Friendship - Be thankful for friendship - The definition of friendship is: a person who is a constant in your life, who sings in your car in the most annoying way possible but you still tolerate it because they are your friend, a person who knows your limits and pushes them a little farther than you would, a person who will cheer you on in good decisions and bad, a person who loves you even on your "bad" days and still thinks you're pretty cool, someone who you chose to not live this life without. Okay maybe that's not the dictionary definition of friendship but close enough. Anyway, be thankful of your friends this fall szn and maybe buy them a pumpkin spice latte or two.

10. Love - Be thankful for love - Last but not least, be thankful for love. I am a teacher and I told my students that "I loved my first boss" and then they all giggled like the children that they are, and I explained to them that you can love people in many different ways - I loved my boss because she believed in me and gave me an opportunity I might not have had if she didn't believe in me and the thing the kids got hung up on was that my boss was a woman! So then we really talked about how love is love and it isn't just black and white, it is a beautiful, colorful spectrum, that comes in many shapes, sizes, forms, lengths and you know what? I listened to these little loves share with each other all of the people that they love in their lives. On that note, be thankful for the love in your life, whether it's the love of your life, your mother, neighbor, child, someone else's child, whomever, just be thankful for it.

Bonus: Harry Potter - Always be thankful for Harry Potter, not just in the fall, but ALWAYS! K, bye!

Bonus Xs 2: - I'm thankful for you! Thank you for reading my post! Feel free to leave a comment of something you're thankful for, I'd love to know! K, goodbye for realz.

5 Ways to do Cinco De Mayo

** I understand this is a blog of 10 but in honor of Cinco De Mayo (The fifth of May for you Gringos) I will be doing a list of 5.** Numero Uno-   Traditions - Let's be respectful. Cinco De Mayo is an annual celebration to commemorate the Battle of Puebla where the Mexican Army took victory over the French Empire. (au revoir  putas) In Mexico, the traditional celebration is very militant and in the US it's a fucking fiesta - but, it is important to be respectful of traditions so therefore, be respectful.  Numero Dos- Tacos - What is a fiesta without bomb ass Mexican food? Not a very good one. (jajaja) I live in California so I am #blessed with authentic Mexican food and can literally find tacos at any hour of the day. If you don't live in California maybe stick to some generic tortilla chips and some Pace Salsa and skip the tacos because it would be a shame to try to recreate tacos if you don't know wtf you're doing. Make sure you eat at least 14 tacos on

Who doesn't love a good weekend getaway? Especially to places that are amazing! Here are the top 10 musts for weekend getaways in Northern California! 1. Benbow - Benbow Historic Inn in the town of Benbow is a MUST when looking for a weekend getaway. The Inn is not only totally adorable, but it gives you a feeling of royalty while staying there! The Inn hosts different style rooms that are named in honor of the first family that lived there! Supa cute! Also, if you're in the mood for a night cap (booze yay!) and a soak, most rooms come stocked with yummy liquor and soaking tubs - hell ya. Hint: Check-in on time to catch Tea Time where you're greeted with fresh tea and homemade scones! Did I mention the restaurant is out of this world?  2. Tahoe - Uh-duh! Tahoe is hands down on the top 10 Northern California destinations & yes, Tahoe is considered Northern California based off of a snazzy Google search I did- ha. If you haven't been to Tahoe, you're in for a
